Tulapur Sambhaji Maharaj Samadhi Pune

Tulapur is a village located in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. It is famous for being the site of the Samadhi of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire and the eldest son of Shivaji Maharaj.

Sambhaji Maharaj was captured by the Mughal Empire and was brutally tortured and executed in 1689. His body was dismembered and thrown into the Bhima River. His mortal remains were later recovered by his loyal followers and were brought to Tulapur, where a Samadhi or tomb was built in his memory.

The Samadhi of Sambhaji Maharaj in Tulapur is a significant historical and cultural landmark and is visited by thousands of tourists and devotees every year. The Samadhi is situated on the banks of the Bhima River, and the surrounding area is beautiful and serene, making it a popular spot for picnics and family outings.

The government of Maharashtra has also developed a beautiful garden and a memorial in honor of Sambhaji Maharaj near his Samadhi at Tulapur. The memorial features a statue of the brave Maratha warrior and several informative exhibits about his life and legacy.
